A is for Weekend of AWESOME

To bid adieu to March and usher in April, I've had a jam-packed weekend full of excellence.

Yesterday I went and saw this:

OMGSQUEESOAWESOME!!!!11!!!!1!

So faithful to the book which I was INCREDIBLY glad to see. In the books I'm Team Gale 4EVA but the movie...I gotta say it...Peeta was wearing me down. Mind you, Gale will get more time in the spotlight in the next movie WHICH NEEDS TO BE MADE RIGHT NOW.

And I went to my first ever bout of this:

It was fun, though since I don't really know the rules, watching them roll around and around was somewhat repetitive. I need to study up if I'm going to go again.
I bought the Toxic Avengers tee shirt because their logo is awesome.

TODAY I am going to these:

The Book Launch for Sue Lawson's new book - at the Titanic Theatre Restaurant which I have been DYING to go to!

Mark Thomas at the Melbourne International Comedy Festival

Damian Callinan at the Melbourne International Comedy Festival

I am reviewing the comedy festival shows for the publication The Pun, so you'll be able to check out what I thought of them later this week!

Totally A for AWESOME weekend.

Later gators,

  2. YES. You must rectify this.
Thanks for the blog love. SO WEIRD that YOU are the first person to comment on the blog, as of the 1500+ blogs registered, I did a lucky dip and YOURS was the first blog I was going to visit. But is it down?

  3. You mentioned The Hunger Games. I want to read the book before I see the movie. I plan to download the book onto my Kindle soon. I've got a trip to Tennessee coming next week. Long bus ride. Plenty of time to read. (Yours is the first blog post I've read so far as part of the A to Z challenge. Thanks for the positive post!)

  4. Visiting from the A to Z Challenge! I loved "The Hunger Games" book, and I can't wait to go see the movie {probably tomorrow}! I also enjoy roller derbies, but have never saw one live - only on TV. I think I would enjoy the live action more!

    Can't wait to read more!

    1. I didn't know roller derby was on TV (in Australia) but it turns out my 72 y/o FATHER had seen roller derby before me. On TV. :)

      Hope you liked the movie!

  5. This is so awesome -- thanks for commenting on my blog, made me feel special. I enjoyed this immensely!! Love all the images - WOW!
I'm just about done (how could I stop so close to the end??) with the book -- I was going to avoid the movie, but now that you say the movie is close to the book, maybe I will take it on!

Lots of roller derby action in Portland, though I don't follow it

AGain - awesome start to the month -- judy

    1. Yes - I am usually wary of adaptations, I drag my expectations for them way down. And The Hunger Games...it had big shoes to fill.
And it DID. The shoes fit perfectly. :)

    1. Thanks for following, Claire!
Gale/Liam Hemsworth actually lives down near my parents. I used to work on the island he lives on, but alas, don't remember seeing him or brother Chris. I worked at a huge tourist attraction so that would explain it. :)

  7. So one of the funniest nights me and my friends ever had was coming up with roller derby names. Try it sometime.

    1. Yes! Roller Derby names rock, don't they?
I thought I could be Sarah the Starer but that's not intimidating. That's just creepy.

  8. I saw The Hunger Games last week :-) Visually, I found it stunning, but I felt like it was using this movie to set us up for the other two (which I think will be AWESOME). Also, my SIL attempted roller derby - she still has the plaster to prove it ;-P

    1. Alas, aren't they all like that?
I rewatched Lord of the Rings, Fellowship of the Ring the other day and what an annoying ending that has, if you're looking for a satisfying conclusion. :)

OMG...I would never try roller derby for fear of that! Looks so painful...

Thanks for commenting! I love comments. I seriously do. Except when they're spam. I get a lot of spam here so, unfortunately, I had to add word verification to stamp that out. But I don't want to stamp out YOUR comment, so keep them coming, okay?
